IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO ASK A SENIOR ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY
If you are looking for an older community, questions are an important part of making an informed decision. While some are more obvious than others, such as cost and availability. Are their staff members trained to care?
Team quality is a key definition of the quality of care provided by a group of older people. Experience, integrity, compassion and training are needed. It is important to ask what training the older community offers and whether team members are evolving.

How seniors spend their time in this community?
Support and care are crucial – similarly important is the lifestyle of your loved one. In a Serenity assisted living community, we believe that everyone needs a reason to wake up in the morning. Research shows that older people who have more time to interact with the world around them and their friends are healthier and happier. Our program is based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs and offers living-oriented activities; mentally, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

What are the monthly fees, and what do they involve?
The cost to each parent community varies. Some are all-inclusive, and others have basic costs as well as separate care fees. This can make it difficult for seniors and families to try to compare prices in different communities. If you ask for a community price, be sure to ask what is included in that cost and what is not.

Is the contract spells out terms?
Make sure the contract specifies how much your loved one is required to give before you leave, how entrance fees (if any) are handled, and the length of the contract. Ask for an estimate of the annual growth rate.
Choosing an assisted living for parents or loved ones is a big decision for your family. Use these questions to ask the community in your tour to help you make the final choice. We invite you to call 989-793-3471  to talk to a senior specialist who can answer your questions!
