HEALTHY AGING: WHAT IS A PART OF IT AND WHAT IS NOT NORMAL?

The World Health Organization defines healthy aging as the process of acquiring and retaining functional abilities that enable older people to live happily. It is about developing conditions and opportunities that allow people to be and do what they cherish throughout their lives to achieve healthy aging.
Everyone can age healthily. Being disease or frailty-free is not a precondition for healthy aging as many seniors have one or more medical conditions that, when well-managed, have little impact on their wellbeing.  The first step toward protecting your health is understanding what mental and physical variations exist as you become older. Here are a few more frequent bodily changes to anticipate:
Heart
Your main arteries stiffen as you get older, a condition known as arteriosclerosis, which contributes to high blood pressure. As the arteries harden and constrict, blood flow to the heart is reduced. Coronary artery disease, or hardening of the arteries leading to your heart, is a significant risk factor for heart attack. Not all of the heart and blood vessel changes that come with aging can be prevented. Eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly can nearly always assist in keeping your arteries and heart in better shape for longer. Smokers must also give up smoking and develop stress management strategies for better health.

Memory and Senses
You may note that your five senses (hearing, sight, taste, smell, and touch) aren't as keen as they used to be as you get older. Changes in your memory and thinking abilities can be frightening, but keep in mind that some modifications are natural and others are not. Being forgetful, especially with names and phrases, is a natural adjustment in healthy individuals. Multitasking may become increasingly challenging for certain adults as they get older. Keeping your brain active, learning new things, and staying social will help you keep your senses and memory for a longer time.

Bones
As bones lose mass or volume, they become thinner and more fragile, leading to osteoporosis. Low bone mass increases your chance of breaking bones, including those in the spine, resulting in a hunched posture and loss of height. A broken bone is frequently the first symptom of it.  Make an appointment with your doctor to discuss how you can avoid osteoporosis. Also, ensure that you are getting adequate calcium and vitamin D.

Teeth
Over time, the thick enamel that shields your teeth from decay might erode, leaving you vulnerable to cavities. Furthermore, as you get older, the nerves in your teeth shrink, making you less responsive to pain. This delays the detection of cavities or fissures in the tooth's outer surface. Taking care of your dental hygiene and getting regular checkups might help you avoid tooth decay.
Aging is a part of the journey called LIFE. Therefore, healthy aging is obtained by a very few seniors of the society for several reasons. Not to deny, seniors need assistance with their daily living activities and chores, which could healthily help them age. Serenity Springs provide the best-assisted living facilities and enable seniors to live their best life with healthy aging.
